This place was awsome. They had great tasting food, it is priced very fair and the service and enviornment is very cool. I don't mind making a trip up to the talega area to grab some grub from here. Absolutly way better then the togos that was there before it.

Bottom line, best sando in San Clemente. The Baja Chicken rocks as does the Baja beef. Great microbrews as well on tap and topped off by a super friendly crew there. Great to see a new SC business doing so well. This last Sunday the line was out the door and the guy at the front said it had been for over two hours.
(5)Kenny P.
Great Sandwiches! I ordered the spicy roast beef which was excellent and my wife ordered the turkey deluxe which she also enjoyed. We got them to go, but would like to go back and have a few beers on tap. I'm not sure that healthy sandwiches go with beer, but I'll give it a shot. Seems like a cool place, hopefully it sticks around unlike togos.
(4)Ryan G.
One of the best sandwiches in town! Great service and good beer selection. I highly recommend going if you havent already!
(5)Shannon M.
Sandwich and a beer. Perfect. Clean and casual environment. Clearly a local favorite. We tried the baja chicken and the Tom's special. Neither disappointed.

Let me just start by saying that I have been a huge fan of the original Board and Brew in Del Mar. I stopped by this new location with my girlfriend on our way up to LA and since we were going to spend the day in LA walking around a lot, we didn't want to get overly stuffed so we decided to split the chicken club. Amazing! Just as good, if not better, than the Del Mar Location. You have to get the special sweet and sour sauce! We left the place wishing we had each gotten our own sandwich. I will definitely be making a stop there next time I head up that way.
(5)Heather A.
I just visited for the first time, but this will be our go-to sandwich place. I had a delicious turkey sandwich and the price is pretty reasonable - actually very reasonable considering the sandwiches are huge. And they serve beer! The only thing keeping me from a 5-star review is (as another reviewer noted) the similarity of all their sandwiches. A little more variety would be nice because I plan on returning to Board & Brew often.
(4)Henry W.
It's hard to imagine giving a sandwich joint such strong praise but his joint deserves it. My son turned me on this place. The sandwiches are big and very tasty. We order three sandwiches for three people and had two halves left for dinner. I definitely will return for more goodies.
(4)Denise I.
This place is surprisingly good despite the fact that it is in a Talega strip mall and smells like sweaty children on the weekends. I get the pastrami every time and always love it.
(5)Kewa L.
the portions are enormous! very good! my kids love this place, a little crowded at times, but that tells you this place is good.
(5)M. B.
I live down the street and go to B&B often. The vibe is very laid back with "lite" Reggae piped in over the speakers. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Veggie Delight (hold the mayo por favor). The squaw bread is so soft and seemingly made with just the right touch of molasses. The veggies (sprouts, red onion, tomato) are always super fresh and I am always delighted by the huge mound of fresh avocado. While I don't like cheddar on my sandwiches either, I do love the creamy taste and texture of the jack cheese (it comes with cheddar and jack). And, as always, you MUST have the secret sauce ( what kind of crack is in that anyway??) The Honey Blonde beer is the perfect accompaniment. I am so lucky to have this place down the street. It's the perfect neighborhood sandwich/pub shop. But be warned: there is usually a line (moves fast) and it's very popular after all the little league sporting events in SC on Sat. and Sundays.
(5)Matthew P.
Ok Ok.... Baja Beef and Baja Chicken..... soooooo good. Gotta grab their sweet and sour sauce cause its the BOMBdigity.
(5)Shelley M.
My kids and their friends are addicted to their food! Very reasonably priced and a great value. Thank you!
(5)Melissa M.
Why oh why did this place open AFTER I moved away? I've been out of San Clemente for 3 years now, but just thinking about the chicken club with a side of sweet and sour makes me want to fly back to Cali and get a sandwich. The food is delish, the owners are super friendly, and you can get beer there! Win/win/win. But seriously, for those of you that have already tried the Turkado, go Chicken Club with sweet and sour next time. It's the stuff dreams are made of. And now I'm hungry just thinking about it....
(5)L E.
Best quality sandwiches I have had in a long time. Everything is fresh and delicious! When my husband and I can't figure out what to eat we end up choosing board n brew, because we know we won't be disappointed!
(5)Bernie W.
epic sandwiches, good beer and decent prices. Get Tom's Choice and ask for it to be toasted... you won't be sorry!
(5)Nicholas F.
so i was out in bfe talega droppin of my lil sister and need to find a spot with a dog friendly patio. boards and brews fit the bill perfectly. had a baja chicken sandwich and my wife had the chicken club. the inside scoop is to get the sweet n sour dipping sauce for your bread, so glad my sis mentioned that because it totally amps up the sandwich. the bread is phenomenal and all the ingredients tasted top-notch. i can't wait to get back over there.
(4)Pat E.
My all time favorite place to eat. I am addicted. I will likely be eating there when you show up. See you there. By the way, ask to see the "secret menu."
(5)Molly M.
Such good food! Every sandwich I've tried has been amazing. Make sure you get the sweet & sour sauce - awesome!!!!
(5)Kevin M.
When I saw the Board and Brew going in I thought to myself, "great, another sandwich place" Seriously, with a Subway at the Wal Mart right there, a Quizno's across the street, a Daphne's next door and right there Romanos, why would you put in a sandwich place? Especially since you were filling the spot that was once held by Togos which didn't do too well there before you. The other thing with sandwiches.... seriously, can;t we just make our own great sandwich at home for a lot less than what they charge us at a sandwich shop? Being a new place though, I figured I'd give it a try. What a refreshing surprise. The selection of sandwiches is really great and they'll make you what you want from what they have if you don't see it on the menu board. Fresh and tasty bread, good portions of meat and toppings on the sandwiches, gourmet chips and drinks to choose from, you can have a cold beer, watch some tube and munch on soe great grub. Prices were good too. I've been back many times since and it seems I'm not the only fan, usually pretty busy, especially Saturdays and weekends. Way to go guys!!! Great job on a sandwich joint.
(5)Rachel O.
I love this place for the great sandwiches, but I have had to cu back on the calories and started getting the Garden salad with Grilled chicken! Holy Smokes, so fresh, so good! Thanks for having this as an option. ...but I don't believe for a second that ranch is low-cal, it's way too good. What's your secret?
(5)Zachary H.
It's a pretty cool place with good sandwiches. The construction was pretty solid, and if I worked up there I'd probably be in more requently, but I'm not going to drive all the way up there just for the sandwich
(4)John D.
Very good food, FYI try to go b4/after 12 so you don't have to wait too long in line.
(4)Kimberly R.
Been here a bunch of times and sandwiches never disappoint. Ordered online for 12 pm today and showed up early, everyone rushed to prepare my sandwich early and walked out of there within 10 minutes... excellent service, friendly staff and cool atmosphere... Gotta bring my husband here to try their beer!
(5)Lisa W.
The sandwiches are great but this secret sauce put me over the edge! It's amazing! I'll be coming back after work to have a beer next time!
(5)Andrew G.
I eat here minimum 3 days a week, turkey club, roast beef spicy and beef dip....so good
(5)Jeff K.
Board & Brew, truly great sandwiches at great prices. I've been to a ton of sandwich places and I have to say Board & Brew takes the prize for the best sandwiches at the best prices so far. Subway take notes! These guys know how to make a sandwich and they actually put meat on it. Additionally, their sweet & sour sauce (not to be confused with the Asian version and should be renamed to "Miracle Sauce") is amazing on practically any sandwich. Before I left I was looking around to see if they had bottles of it somewhere. FOOD IN ORDER OF WHAT I LIKED BEST === BAJA CHICKEN (Rating 5) So I wised up. I like jalapenos, but not a ton of them so after my last visit getting the Baja Beef, I asked them to go light on the jalepenos. They got it just right! This thing has grilled onions, jalpenos, melted jack cheese and is on a French Baguette. They add some mayo, tomato and lettuce and you're off!. The chicken is marinated with a great flavor as well so the sandwich is bursting with flavor. I like it allot! Yes, I add the miracle sauce as well. Visit 8/14/2015 Rating 5: Great as usual! TURKEY CLUB (Rating 5) Again, add the sweet and sour to get the most out of this sandwich but even without it it's fantastic. BAJA BEEF (Rating 4) A few too many jalapenos for me, (I pulled a few off). Adding the sweet & sour sauce to this made it delicious! A truly unique flavor I'll be back for. GREEN SALAD (Rating 4) So my wife LOVES this. It's her new favorite salad and I have to say the ingredients are fresh and of high quality. Add to that a home made Italian dressing that is extremely novel (slight honey taste which sounds horrible as I'm writing this, but it tastes great) The dish has green Leaf Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber, Hard Boiled Eggs & Homemade Croutons with either Grilled Chicken, Tuna or Sliced Avocado. I like the chicken.
(5)Arlene C.
So, I got the Baja chicken and a soup. The food was really good. That's not the issue. I called in the order since I work about 5 minutes away. My call was at 1048am. I got to the place and paid for my order. I sat and waited. *NOTE: the guy on the phone whom I placed the order with said the order would take 10 minutes. So I waited and wiated. Then I waited some more. I watched as the guy behind the counter hung out (there were like 3 people dinning and it wasnt busy at all). So finally at 11:20 I told him that I would like a refund because I had to go (I only get a 30 minute lunch ). Well, he looks at me and says, "oh..sorry." and proceeds to grab a bag from the counter behind him!!!! Really guy??!!! My order had been ready but because he was busy shootin the shit with his co workers and just hanging out he failed to take care of the customers. It's a shame because I do enjoy their sandwiches and they are good. Sadly I won't be returning because of their lack in customer service.

Board & Brew is good stuff. I am weary of sandwich places but you can taste the freshness. I like the laid back local service. I like the location near Walmart and Home Depot off Pico. My fav is the California sandwich that has sprouts and cream cheese. I LOVE squaw bread but they have other options if you aren't into that. The obviously have beer. I like to go here before a long touturous Walmart shopping trip.
(4)Valeria M.
They serve the food really fast and it's always amazing! I recommend the Beef Dip or the Roast Beef Spicy!
(5)Raffy G.
What's not to like?! Board & Brew or as the locals call it "B&B" is always a lunch option for me any day of the week. They have great sandwiches, generous sizes or portions, and decent price, personally I think its a very good deal for the food, you can't complain about the price when you see the servings. Been here numerous times, I been working down in San Clemente for over 4 years now, and probably been here at least 50 times if not more. Every time you order you can count on the quality and consistency on what you order, I have my Favorites, Baja spinach wrap always a favorite, their veggie supreme, the beef dip, these and all their sandwiches are always well made. Their avocado spread is super good, I personally enjoy and very much appreciate their ability to have orders ready in minutes, I usually call ahead for pickup and in less then 10 minutes by the time we get there and pay we have our orders ready, now I also like that they have the option to place your order online, its a very easy signup and its just as fast, no complaints here, I personally haven't had any problems with any of my orders. I have had a few coworkers share some of their complaints but its usually their fault, like not asking if certain sandwiches come or don't come with something, and when they get their orders its not what they wanted, but again its been far and few. I hear they have decent beer selections, unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try any, but I'm sure its true. When you arrive it always looks busy, lines can beout the doors and crowds of people come and go, but the wait for us has not been more then 5 minutes max in line, and again they have plenty of staff people to handle the orders, its fun to watch they really do hustle, and the employees always seem happy and upbeat.

I've been hearing all the buzz about the local Board and Brew and decided to go the extra mile and try it today. What I had heard was that the cold sandwiches were fresh and tasty. Since it was raining I needed some comfort food and ended up going with the: Roast Beef Spicy = cooked thin strips of roast beef laced with jalapeño strands and onions all glued together with melted swiss and a mayo/dijon coagulation. Altogether it totally works on a toasted baguette especially since they give you a cup of au jus for dipping. It's like a French Dip with some kick. My friend with me said the hot pastrami was quite good. To put the proper context to that, he claims pastrami is always his default sandwich order regardless of venue, so he would know. The atmosphere is low key with the surfer vibe (even though it's quite a ways from the beach). The reggae playing was pretty loud, but I think I was right under the speaker. They also had 6 or so picnic tables outside under the roof, but it was a little chilly today for that. I didn't drink, but it looked like they had a separate counter with different microbrew choices on the chalkboard. The prices were definitely fair given the taste and quality. They have many locations, so if you're nearby they're worth a try.

Best Sandwiches ever!! I grew up on the east coast, traveled many places and eaten lots of sandwiches. I can honestly say any one of these sandwiches are the BEST!!!
(5)Ali D.
Yum! What a great find in San Clemente. My boyfriend, whose family lives in San Clemente, told me about Board & Brew and I couldn't wait to try it. This place is SO SoCal. Surf boards and beach photos as decor, California themed sandwiches, you name it. But it is definitely unlike any sandwich joint I've ever experienced and I give brownie points for originality! My boyfriend and I often do this thing where we both order different sandwiches and we end up trading halves. We're saucy like that. He ordered the California Delight: Turkey breast, cream cheese & sunflower seeds on squaw bread with mayo, tomato & sprouts. Basically everything I would ever want a sandwich. I consider sprouts a seriously underrated sandwich topping as they added a great textural element. The turkey was juicy and sliced just right. The cream cheese was of the whipped variety which added a creamy yet light cheesiness. The veggies were all fresh and perfectly ripe, all sitting atop a bed of crunchy sunflower seeds on hearty Squaw bread (imagine a less sweet, softer pumpernickel bread. Yum) It was the perfect sandwich combination hitting every textural and flavor note just right. I ordered the Turkey Deluxe: Turkey breast, cheddar cheese & sunflower seeds served with sweet-sour dressing on a French baguette. This sandwich definitely wasn't nearly as good as the California Delight, however it was still mighty tasty. The best parts being their signature sweet and sour sauce and more crunchy sunflower seeds.

I really enjoy board and brew. Their sandwiches are good. However, sometimes they lack an abundance of flavor. I have gone and have been blown away by the tasty sandwich. But recently it has been lacking in the flavor department. Also, I don't know what kind of chicken they use, but it's gross. So try to avoid anything with chicken because a good portion of the time, I get under cooked chicken in my sandwiches. But other than that, it's a good place!
(3)Cheri L.
This place is great. I love love love the BLTA I have them make on squaw bread. Everything is right, the bread is fresh, the avocado is mashed, the lettuce is shredded and it is HUGE. So huge, that usually I split it with my daughter. I wish I could review more items, but I always have to get my favorite. I do know that my husband has never been disappointed either. He loves the Baja beef and the chicken club. They only lose star because of the few times they have been out of the bread we want to have the sandwich. It is a little pricey, but considering the size and freshness of the sandwiches, I understand.
(4)Eric B.
Great sandwiches. I always make sure to hit this place up when I'm down south. Everything is fresh, I usually go with the turkado, or the baja beef. I usually get it to go as the place is always packed, but I'd like try the beers they have at some point. If you are looking for a sandwich, make sure to check it out
(5)Mandy H.
Only lost one star because it does get pretty crazy around lunch time and can be hard to run in quickly for lunch if you're in a rush. Food is great! Reasonable prices for HUGE sandwiches, and you can sit and enjoy some local beer while you wait. I'm a San Diego local and was so excited to find out there was a Board & Brew in SC, and the service and food is just as awesome as the original!
(4)Chris L.
I ate here for the first time a few months ago after a long day of mountain biking in the hills of San Clemente. I got the turkynado sandwich and I was amazed on how bomb it was. Along with your sandwich comes a secret dipping sauce that is kind of like thousand island that tastes super bomb on your sandwich. Fast forward a few months, I finally decided to come back here with a few friends last week. I was absolutely starving and could not wait to get my sandwich. I got the Baja Chicken, which was just as good as the sandwich I had the first time. I used two of their "special orange dipping sauces" on my sandwich, which surprisingly brings me to my next shocking point. I am giving this a 1 star rating due to something unsanitary and very shocking that my friends and I saw that we could not believe happened. One of the workers who was cleaning the tables outside stacked what appeared to be "unused" special orange sauce in a dine in sandwich basket with some other trash. After the guy finished cleaning the tables, he proceeded to throw out the trash he collected but sneakily placed 3 "unused" special dipping sauce containers at the counter where the chefs put the food when it's ready. The chef grabbed the special sauce containers and I am assuming stacked them with the other ones he had back there. I find this very disturbing because how does the guy that cleaned the tables know that nobody used those sauces. I feel like if the health dept saw them do that they would get written up. If I did not see that happen I would give this place a 5 star rating.
(1)Erik N.
Best sandwiches in San Clemente. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. Good variety of beers on tap that rotate regularly. Angel makes the best soups I've ever had. I haven't had one yet that wasn't amazing. These guys should be proud of what they do...
(5)Kimmy B.
Amazing sandwich shop. Got the Tub O' Tuna sandwich and it's the best tuna sandwich I've ever had! Had such a wonderful girl serve us too. I'd recommend this place for sure.
(5)cristian s.
I have been here before with my nieces and they loved it! Now I'm here with my good friend from AZ and she loved it as well! They have beer and very friendly staff!!!! I recommend this place for anybody that loves good sandwiches!!!
(5)Huggy b.
i had the veggie sandwich today. It overflowed with avocado and fresh vegetables. Best veggie sandwich in town and at a reasonable price. Very filling too. i don't know how they could make it any better? Put bacon on it? wait... then it wouldn't be veggie i guess
(5)Frank G.
Great lil spot inland in San Clemente. I recommend the Baja Chicken sandwich 'From the Grill'... Delish! Staff that works here are very accommodating and are super chilled. Two high def TV's one over bar, one in corner and they put on the Buckeyes vs Ducks Game with volume. Come check it out, I'm certain you won't be disappointed. GO BUCKEYES!!
(5)Kelsey M.
We ordered online through their website, and our food was ready when we got there. So convenient! The chicken club sandwich comes on a toasted baguette and it's really good! I highly recommend it. We didn't care for the turkey club sandwich, only because the baguette wasn't toasted. Otherwise, it's a really good sandwich! So if you get the turkey club sandwich, ask for the baguette to be toasted, or you'll be disappointed. Can't wait to eat here again! Delicious sandwiches and great service.
(4)Sandy D.
I love sandwiches! Especially if they are made with LOVE this place is definitely on my top list of sandwich places. B&B has a variety of unique and quality cold and hot sandwiches, wraps, soup and salads and yummy homemade potato salad. They have a nice selection of micro-brews, but won't be able to taste them as long as I'm working in this area :(
(4)Danielle S.
We decided to go for it and try something new since we were in the area. Let me say the food was delicious! We got there right after they opened and they were ready to go. I ordered the Italian which is my favorite kind of sandwich, this one was amazing and hit the spot. My husband got the pastrami and he devoured it, my 3 year old even ditched his grilled cheese for our sandwiches! Potato salad was yummy and a great portion. Keep it up, will definitely be back again.
(5)Aja M.
Great Sandwiches! The Baja Chicken sandwich is super tasty, especially with bacon. They also have soft & sweet squaw bread which is hard to find else where. You won't be disappointed!
(4)M M.
I can only speak for the Baja Wrap. It was pretty awful. Grilled onions should not be mixed with avocados and jalapenos. The chicken looked like the same chicken strips they sell at costco. I don't normally say this but I wish I went next door to Baja Fresh. Service was decent but that's not enough for me to buy crappy food again.
(1)Michelle D.
Wow... So disappointed.... Meat was so salty and potato salad was store bought... Horrible and expensive.....
(1)Joel C.
Have eaten here more than a dozen times. Solid array of warm & cold sandwiches ($6-7). Simple combos, fresh ingredients, GOOD bread. Small but good (and frequently rotated) craft beer selection ($5-6). Always a sports game (or two) on the two large flat screen TVs and chill beachy tunes playing overhead. The place is popular but service is both fast & friendly. I'm especially impressed that today -- when I'd already placed an order before realizing that I'd left my wallet at home -- they brought out my food & beer anyways, allowing me to return hours later to pay for it. Great customer service!!
(4)Rhonda K.
Board and Brew is awesome! The food is amazing and the service is so friendly. Plus great beer!
(5)Jenelle R.
Why do you close at 8:00pm?????? I love this place but they close WAY TOO early! Please consider staying open until 9 or even 10. People will come for sandwiches and beer! I promise!
(5)Taylor S.
I've been going to Board and Brew for years. I've probably spent close to $10k in food since the restaurant opened in the Pico shopping center. The place has fresh ingredients and a good atmosphere. I've always preferred Billy's for my sandwiches but Board and Brew is super close to my office and they make decent food. The reason I gave Board and Brew a one-star rating is because of the horrible service I received a couple of weeks ago. I called in an order for takeout, like I usually do, and I was told the food would be ready in 10 minutes. 10 minutes later I showed up to the restaurant and the line was super long. They weren't operating the "pick up" line so I had to wait about 5-10 minutes just to pay for the food. When I got to the counter, the girl working the cash register told me that they just ran out of turkey. I was surprised because the gentleman on the phone had failed to mention that when I placed my order. So how does a sandwich shop run out of turkey in the early afternoon? I was baffled. I called home and the wife was not stoked. After some verbal abuse she relented to go with chicken. The girl then told me that she would get the order done immediately. 5 min later, a guy came from the back and told me everything was ready but needed confirmation on the meat. For the second time, I declared I wanted chicken. 7 min later, the girl came out again and told me that she was sorry for the inconvenience and that they were still working on my food. I told her that her co-worker told me everything was ready except for the last sandwich. She told me that was not the case. Sensing my frustration she asked me to write down my email because she wanted to send me a coupon for a free sandwich. To this day I have not received this email. 4 min later I was handed my food. I looked inside and they'd forgotten about the extra dressing I asked for, they didn't include half of the ingredients on my cobb salad, and they missed the dipping sauce. In total, I waited over 30 min from the time I made the phone call until the time I received my botched order. I left that day making a firm decision to never go back. I've instructed all employees to follow suit in my Board and Brew boycott. Never again will I deal with mediocre sandwiches from a shop that has no respect for their customers.
(1)Lesley G.
Best sandwiches ever!!!!! I always eat the Baja chicken sandwich. Yummy grilled onions and jalapeños and the Orange sauce they give is SO DARN GOOD!!! I love eating my sandwich with some of their jalapeño chips inside. Yummy!!
(5)John P.
The quality and quantity is awesome! The ambiance was great and the food came out fast. Such a cool spot for a delicious sandwich and more.
(5)Irwinn G.
Great service and a nice selection of beer. Happy hour is 3 to 6. Sandwiches are dope af. Come try their Baja beef and pastrami.
(4)Randy W.
Far and away the best sandwich in town and far and away best beer selection in town. Lines can be long on the weekend but that's because the food is so good. Try the turkado or beef dip which are fantastic. Also a great place to grab a sandwich to go and take it to the beach or park!
(5)Al Z.
Always a favorite! When I am in the area for lunch this is my go to place. Sometimes the line can get quite long so you may have to take it to go unless you want to sit outside. I have had several sandwiches and even the wrap and they are ALL good. Never disappointed. The secret sauce they have is sweet and tangy. I highly recommend this place.
(4)Ariel K.
My husband and I regular board and brew at least once a week. Every single time our sandwiches (tub o tuna and veggie supreme) are amazing. The only place they could improve on is consistency of answering phone calls. We choose to call in ahead because we have a 15-25 minute drive to get to our board and brew but man is it worth it:) When they do pick up the phone, our order is always made to perfection by the time we arrive. Also, emphasize if you want extra sides of sauce, a few times they have been forgotten. Love board and brew and can't wait to enjoy some more soon.
(5)Christopher T.
For me it's tough finding a good sandwich place. I will only eat subway if there is nothing else. We stopped by Board and Brew this weekend and were impressed. They had great sandwiches, soup, potato salad and craft beers. I got the Tom's choice, my wife got the blt, my two friends got the veggie sandwich and the pastrami. All were excellent. We will be back soon!
(5)Ari M.
Love love love Board & Brew. I have been coming here forever, and it still tastes just as delicious. I always go with the Turkey Club, but all of the sandwiches are just as tasty. As an added plus, you can also order beers on tap to go with your food! Make sure you get the house sauce on the side-- it's really good!
(5)Mike W.
Love their Chicken Club. Would give them 5 stars except they are out of Sea Salt chips way too often. Come on guys, buy an extra box !! Sheesh !
(4)Brian J.
Excellent bread, decent filling. Just those facts would be enough for four or five stars. Had the roast beef and the pastrami sandwich. Unfortunately the amount of meat in the sandwiches was sadly lacking (see photo). The pastrami was a little better filling wise. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Hopefully they will add more meat in the future! Then I'll up the star level.
(3)Mark W.
Went and got another Sandwich and a Beer and absolutely Loved it like usual. It was a little Slower and the staff was super friendly! Great Job Guys!!!
(5)Ron G.
Board and Brew is chosen as one of our companies favorite local eateries to cater to our Monthly Employee of the Month lunches here at Sovereign Health of California. It is always a positive buzz that circulates around our 200 plus employees locally when they hear Board and Brew is catering. Their selection of sandwiches, special sauce and salads are all mouth watering and plentiful. There is never an empty plate leftover when our lunch is over. Kudos to the entire staff for their continued service to Sovereign Health of California. We thank you!!!!!
(5)Sawmon J.
After 4 -5 additional visits I can safely say board and brew earns my 5 stars. The sandwiches may not be my personal favorites they make up for it in customer service and consistent freshness.
(5)Daniel H.
Always fresh and tasty. Good service. Inside and outside dining. Nice choice of brews and helpful staff to help select the best one for your taste. Often a line but you can order online to avoid the lines. Music is upbeat and lively. Nice lunch spot.
(4)Lewis L.
Good food. One long line, two order takers. Some people see just one person being helped at the right window and line up there, basically cutting in front of the long line of people thinking they're waiting for "first available."
(2)Katelyn T.
First time here and it's my new fav sandwich place here in San Clemente. I got the Turkado. Very fresh and the special sauce is great as well. Will be back.
(5)Morgan C.
Omg! Hoppy Colada dark IPA. Get in. Try it. Now. Ps Italian pastrami is no joke fantastic sandwich!!!! Again all helpful recommendations love this place so much!

California Delight... Best sandwich on the menu. If you like Roast Beef they make their own and its popular... But I can't get passed the California delight on squaw bread.
(5)Shannon C.
Pleasantly surprised to find this sandwich shop in San Clemente. It definitely has more of a surfers sandwich shop feel over a dive bar, but some beer with lunch never hurt! I ordered the turkey avocado and decided to go with the squaw bread, alfalfa, and sunflower seeds inside which made it sooo good. I wasn't a fan of the sauce for this sandwich. The service was awesome, the place was casual and fun, and the sandwiches were fabulous! This place is in a shopping center plaza, so parking is no problem. Loved it!
(4)Dave S.
Good food and beers you have to try ! The service was fast as well love to sit at the bar and watch surf movies when here !! Enjoy
(5)Cody B.
Great sandwiches! The portions are pretty big and the prices are not bad. I will definitely be going back when I'm in the area and I'm excited to check out the location that's supposed to be opening in Irvine.
(5)Alexander R.
I have been getting chicken clubs for 10+ years and I only crave them more. Try the sweet n sour with it, it's amazing. They usually have some good beers on tap too. This is a favorite lunch spot for my entire family, doesn't get any better in SoCal.
(5)Andy A.
Great sandwiches. I haven't tried them all, but my go to's include the turkey club (my usual), tub o' tuna, tom's choice, turkado, and the perfect pastrami. The potato salad is good as well - homemade and not too heavy on the mayo. I do like the secret sauce. It reminds me of Wishbone French dressing. I think the prices are actually pretty good for the high quality and portion sizes.
(4)Daniel B.
5 stars for a sandwhich shop. Good pricing for what you get. The French Dip is killer. the horseradish and au jus is great. Great selection of chips and beer too. Really good product and service for the price
(5)Gil M.
Great sandwich variety, good atmosphere, great customer service, and good quality ingredients. Working my way through all the sandwiches on the menu...
(4)Rosalie R.
Love love love this place I'm usually not a sandwich type of girl but Jesus are these sandwiches DELICIOUS! My fave is the California delight
(5)Alanna B.
Good food and decent prices. I've only tried a few things on their menu. And everything is fresh and good tasting. I'd give them 5 stars if it wasn't for my last few experiences. Customer service used to be attentive and friendly. Now, a kind of whatever attitude. Maybe it was just the last few times and hopefully it just those times. And my last order was off. I ordered a Caesar salad (received a garden salad with Caesar dressing). It was pretty gross and that's all I had as I had to head back to work. Along with a wrap and they keep forgetting the special sauce. Good food, okay service and check your order before you leave.
(3)Terry H.
Typical sandwich shop with a twist. Beer. $22 for 2 sandwiches and a Pacifico. No lime, that sucked. Sit out on the patio.
(4)Brittany M.
I cant tell you how good their sandwiches are. I would recommend their grilled chicken club to anyone and if you love potato salad....try theirs! I often grab a bite here on my lunch break and every time I get an order to go, they are super fast! Great service.
(5)Elisa P.
Sandwiches were tasty and the service was very friendly and helpful. They made sandwiches for our kids exactly the way they like them and didn't hesitate to fix the order right away when we realized they put turkey instead of ham on one of them. Despite being in a strip mall, it actually has a pretty great atmosphere, so it felt much less suburban than I expected it to. Plus, they have a bar :).
(5)Brent S.
Great food, quick service, cool atmosphere. This is hands down my favorite lunch spot in San Clemente.
(5)Elle C.
Fast, Friendly, and Fun! It was impressive how quickly the friendly crew handled the lunch line that was out the door! Even more impressive was how quickly the sandwiches were delivered to our tables. Their personable staff was ever busy, quickly cleaning the cleared tables, delivering orders, and removing empty sandwich baskets and trash when customers are finished. One doesn't get this good of service at full-service restaurants! The small sandwich shop has a casually cool atmosphere teeming with equally cool people. Both sandwiches we ordered (Turkey Sub and Baja Chicken) were served on soft, fresh French baguettes; the shredded lettuce was a nice addition; the recommended side of sweet and sour sauce was tasty, but not necessary, as the sandwiches were so good on their own. Please open more locations closer to Irvine. We need a good, well-run sandwich shop.
(4)Alex M.
***UPDATED REVIEW*** In my previous visit there was nothing particularly special or unique about this place. The sandwich was good, not great; ambience the same. I received a message from the owner thanking me for my opinion and suggesting a particular sandwich from the Menu. His attentiveness and honestly made me feel compelled to give Borad n Brew another shot. He was right. The Baja Beef is very impressive. I have no clue what "sauce" is in it but it gives it a certain tangy-ness that is difficult to describe but certainly worth a try. I also was glad to see that since my last visit more local beers were added. Good selection of craft breweries and definitely thought out as they compliment the food. I sat and enjoyed a local beer and watched football. Board N Brew is not going to replace "your bar"...just being honest...But, I do think it is a great choice for a casual lunch or even somewhere to watch the game when you just don't want to deal with the "Triangle" (San Clemente Speak).
(4)Forrest F.
I have been coming to B&B since it opened in San Clemente. I would compare the sandwiches to something one might expect from an upper-class restaurant. I have had every item on the menu, and most items more than once. The consistency of quality and taste is perfect; truly a simple menu I would expect to see from an episode of Kitchen Nightmare after Chef Ramsay works his magic. The craft beer selection from local breweries is excellent. B&B is refreshingly different from all other restaurants in its class, and focus on what matters; good food! The price is excellent. I recommend you skip Carl's Jr. and visit B&B instead, especially considering the price is the same. Final thoughts... I'll pass on that funky tasteless orange sauce! I thought it would be one if those acquired taste things, but I just can't like it. It doesn't taste bad; it just doesn't taste like anything at all. I wish they had a special sauce for spice lovers.
(5)K J.
super chronic! get the turcado!
(5)Nit A.
Great sandwich! Perfect for after surfing or perfect to bring to hike. Way better than subway and all those chain subs.
(4)Sara T.
Delicious sandwiches (the Californian is amazing!!!), fast service & great music...the perfect lunch stop on our way home from vacation. LOVE the chill surfer vibe!!
(5)Andy L.
Great sandwiches. I'm kind of a one trick pony here though. I always get turkado. I also do like the french dip, but I usually get turkado. My friends order from a secret menu that I still haven't learned. I have friends who work here, service is always great. Place is very clean, great craft beer spot on the inland side of San Clemente. Kind of a gem, it's located between Albertsons and Walmart in the shopping strip before La Pata. Will be a win anytime for lunch.
(4)Angie P.
Super convenient location just a few minutes off the 5 freeway and luckily for me, about a 5 minute drive from my work. I have yet to try anything other than the Baja chicken, but every time I've gone, they've had amazing service. All of the workers are always so friendly, and ordering online or over the phone is awesome when you're in a rush. This place is always packed, but I've never encountered slow service. Overall, Board & Brew is a 10/10 for me.
(5)Meesh K.
I usually don't go to sandwich shops because they're easy to make at home. I was just really hungry and the physical therapists at the clinic I went to said they loved going there for lunch. I went there after one of my sessions one day and instantly got hooked!
(5)Jeff N.
These are the best sandwiches in the area. I have not had a bad sandwich here. If you aren't starving, split the sandwich because they are huge.
(5)stephanie f.
The french dip was delicious! The turkey club was exactly how I like it...fresh turkey, cool veggies, thick slices of cheese and bacon. They ran out of bread, so they made my kids' grilled cheese on a roll which didn't go over too well. I'll definitely come back!
(4)Andy N.
Been four or five times , always get the Baja chicken. I'll be branching out soon though, it's good! Try it!
(5)Greg H.
Unreal sandwiches, one of the consistently best beer selections in South OC!!! This is a real go-to spot, never disappointed. Opening in Rancho Santa Margarita soon!
(5)Kari M.
I always love Board & Brew's sandwiches--fresh bread and great and interesting ingredients. Additionally, today I accidentally left my purse at the restaurant and when I got it back a few hours later from Board & Brew, it had all my cash and cards--thank you, Board & Brew staff and the fine, honest people of San Clemente!
(5)Chuck C.
Been coming here a few times and I try to order different items each time, and each time I am very satisfied with the food. Ive had the pastrami, turkado, the club, beef dip, chili and different soups all excellent. Small selection of really good craft brews. Quick and friendly service. Its a win win!
(5)Renita P.
Their sandwiches rock! We always get lunch here when family is visiting. Must try if you haven't gone yet.
(5)Chase R.
I ordered a few sandwiches over the phone tonight, as I was in a rush. When I arrived, one of the sandwiches was not the right one so I had to wait for it to be remade. I also asked for an extra side of Au Jus sauce, and even asked if it was in the bag. I was told that it was, and it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious and am thoroughly impressed in that aspect, but just disappointed in the service.
(2)Dan F.
I'll eat here occasionally. It is delicious, and I want to try everything on the menu. But it's not 4 star worthy because it's not super memorable. A lunch place that gets 4 or 5 stars should be a place that pops into the forefront of my mind every time my stomach rumbles around noon. Once again, amazing sandwich place with great brews on tap. Nothing more, nothing less. I will eat here again.
(3)Heather M.
Me and my boyfriend come here every week, we LOVE all the sandwiches here and the beer selection, Tub-o-Tuna IS AMAZING BTW ;)
(5)Jason R.
Best sandwich shop around San Clemente and definitely my favorite place to go to
(5)Martin S.
They had me at no freezers or microwaves, this place is fresh, fast, and delicious. Great prices friendly service. I had the French dip and it was great, I'm glad it didn't come with a pile of fries as I would have eaten them and not respected myself in the morning. Kids had a plain ham sandwich, with fruit and a juice box. No leftovers or waste at this table. Open more locations go nation wide. I humbly recommend Crested Butte.
(5)Jay K.
Great happy hour with some decent craft brews.
(4)Carl L.
Very nice atmosphere. Stopped here on our recent visit to the area from Indiana. Very nice area. Service was fast and friendly. The sandwich selection was awesome. Strongly recommend. Had the spicy roast beef - it was very good.
(5)Lan P.
I originally gave this location one star because they had no bread, which I thought didn't make sense as they are a sandwich shop. However, the owner reached out to me and provided excellent customer service and apologized for the inconvenience. His personality and how truly he cares for his customers has earned my trust back. I have never seen a business go above and beyond to earn the trust of their customers. Thank you Bret, you are a very honorable human being.
(5)Rich K.
Don't know why everyone gives this place such rave reviews. Don't get me wrong...the customer service is pretty good and they have a decent beer selection, but their meats are sub par. I can't stand their turkey...it's straight up gross. It's watery, has gross texture and bland. I wish they would change their supplier and get top quality meats...
(2)S Z.
Sandwiches are HUGE, delicious and worth every carb! This place is always packed with locals. They also have rotating craft beer on tap. Staff is very friendly and service is quick.
(5)Sabrina D.
Yes, just yes. Being a vegetarian it's easy to get whimpy over priced veggie sandwiches. Not here, it's packed on amazing fresh squaw bread with crispy veggies and cheese, plus some good brews you can't go wrong!
(5)Sheri J.
We have been here quite a few times over the past few years when our sons have games at Steed Park. We have enjoyed many tasty sandwiches and salads here. Service is good and we ways look forward to stopping by here when in the area. This place even has a small bar counter where you can enjoy a beer and get caught up on the day's sports scores on the tvs.
(4)Lauren M.
The sandwiches were very good and a decent price. I ordered the tukey sub and the bread was thick and fluffy and both the turkey and veggies were very fresh. They also have a great selection of craft beer; I ordered the unapologetic IPA. The sandwich came to a total of $6.50 and I was full after eating just half of it. Yummy :)
(4)Gerry S.
Great beer, great sandwiches, great service, great prices. This place is always packed. My daughter will babysit for one of these sandwiches, if that tells you anything!
(5)Steve W.
I usually get the pastrami it is the best, puts the Hat restaurant to shame. Tuna is also good. Honey blonde beer ice cold. Staff is efficient and friendly. A must try!!!
(5)N C.
Grilled chicken club and potato salad were AWESOME. $10 for the combo with a drink and it was week worth it. Me and my wife split the sandwich and even took a little home for later. Well worth the value for the taste and quality of fresh ingredients. Delicious bacon and grilled chicken, and super creamy potato salad. Definitely recommend!
(5)John D.
Glad this went in near where I live. Cool place to hang out, have a beer and watch the game. Great sandwiches, great beer on tap that they change out sometimes so you can try new beers, and great service.
(5)Buck R.
I love this place very consistent and affordable. I eat here 3 or 4 times a week always meet friends everybody loves this place
(5)Nina M.
Stopped in on the way to San Diego from LA because of the high reviews on yelp. I wasn't disappointed! The menu was simple and the girl at the counter was very friendly and helpful. I got the beef dip and my husband got the baja wrap and we shared. The beef was tender and flavorful but the au jus was the icing on the cake. Plus I loved the French baguette. The baja wrap was also scrumptious. The chicken was well marinated and the fresh peppers and avocado was amazing. It was a tad spicy but the sweet-sour dressing they served with it really helped cool it down. I also used the restroom and it was bright, clean, and kept up well. Not from CA but will eat here again if I'm in the area!
(5)Kate V.
The sandwiches here are perfectly priced and delicious! They have a decent selection of beer, and super yummy cookies as well. Everyone who works there is happy to help and positive, and the area is always clean. They also have great outdoor seating.
(5)Destinee N.
Everyone always rants about this place and how amazing it is so I decided to try it out. It was nothing special I most likely won't come back. The bread was dry and cut insanely thick and the "sauce" is horrid. I couldn't even finish my sandwich. If you are thinking about going here I would tell you to go try Humphrys for a sandwich worth ranting about.
(2)Colette S.
Best sandwiches ever! Sandwiches are a good price for the quality. I've tried multiple things on their menu but I usually only get the baja chicken. The bread is always fresh and the dipping sauce for the sandwich is to die for. The employees are usually very nice and attentive.
(5)Erin A.
So we first went over the weekend, totally going back tonight because we're already addidicted. Seriously this place is a must try!
(5)Ali S.
Awesome sandwiches, nice fresh bread. Good beers on tap. San Diego based mini-chain. They put this French dressing sauce on everything.
(5)Sarah J.
Great subs for a great price. I've tried several kinds and have yet to be disappointed!
(5)Jennifer G.
The Veggie sandwich is delicious but definitely not low cal with loads of avocado and cheese. The Squaw bread is nice and soft and a bit sweet and nutty. Service was very friendly and quick and the portions are quite large. Note that the kids sandwiches are served plain with nothing but meat and bread. You want mayo? You'll need to add it. My husband was quite pleased with the beer offerings. All and all a yummy and quick lunch stop on the way to the beach.
(5)Riley G.
Really fun atmosphere with great fun and good beer. My favorite is the turkado and my boyfriend gets the baja chicken. He ordered it one time though in a wrap and we both were not fans. I really like the potato salad too but my boyfriend thinks its a little bland. Overall, I def recommend this place... good lunch date!
(4)Shannon H.
5 star for a sandwich place. Honey blonde beer was really good. I had the chicken club and my boyfriend had the turkey club.. Chicken club was better. Saw a guy eating a French dip and it looked yummy. This puts subway or Quiznos to shame. Cool little bar inside.
(5)John T.
Went to Board and Brew yesterday after seeing all the recommendations on yelp. I have to say it lived up to the hype. I had the Turkado and Honey Blonde beer. They were both very good and the sandwich was big enough that I took half of it home and had it for dinner. Oh yeah, the special dressing is a must.
(5)Dasha F.
Just a really clean, friendly place. No fuss, no hassle. Big portions for good prices. Recommend it!!
(5)Dave C.
Great value, really good food! I had the Turkado, and this was a great sandwich! The turkey was tender and tasty, the toppings were very good (maybe a little heavy on the onion, but only a small amount), and the fresh avocado was delicious. Our food came out fast, and was very fairly priced. I wasn't a raving fan of the sauce, but it was good. Overall, I would gladly go back again!
(5)Mike W.
This is by far the best sandwich place I have ever been to. Their quality is second to none and their beer selection is unmatched. Even better is their customer service. Everyone from the front counter to the managers are super awesome and friendly. Even if you don't live in the area, it is worth the drive for this kind of quality. Oh yah, and their prices are strangely affordable!
(5)Mark P.
B&B is excellent. They've got a great menu and micro brew. The service is sometimes unprofessional but it's just local flavor.
(4)Smorga M.
If you are looking for a GREAT sandwich then this place is well worth a try. The California Delight is by far the best sandwich they have and is on par with sandwiches made from The Sandwich Spot out in Palm Springs. The micro brews? Who cares. Could take them or leave them. The sandwiches are fantastic though!
(4)Marcelo R.
The sandwiches are super yummy and I enjoy the surfer vibe. I'm giving this place four stars only because they have a good selection of craft beers. Not much going on if you choose to dine in...I mostly grab my food to go. At the end of the day they have high quality sandwiches that never disappoint.
(4)Lauren G.
Always love stopping in when I can, when I have to drive to the OC for work from San Diego. Haven't tried much of the menu (I'm a veggie) but the veggie supreme sandwich is kick ass! Stacked full of all the veggies you love on your sammie and their special sauce takes the sandwich up a notch. Staff is great. Always helpful with suggestions and they take good care of you despite the fact that its order at the register. Beer on tap is a great selection and they are always rotating. Lots of local so-cal options plus others. And the price is so right!!!! I never spend more than 15-16 bucks for a huge sandwich, chips and a beer. Thank you board and brew for always making my day : )
(5)Olivia P.
wonderful gourmet sandwiches that are amazing quality for a great price. the other day I ordered over the phone got there picked it up in 2 mins flat. great service, they will accommodate all requests! it's always really busy in there so I will usually do a pick up. my fav is the chicken club, make sure to put the special sauce on it!!
(5)Summer C.
I love this place. I go to the one in San Clemente. It is a fun, cool and casual place to go. I ALWAYS get the Baja Beef because it is sooo good. Maybe I should try something new, but I just love that sandwich. I'm obsessed with jalapenos!
(4)d m.
This place has great roast beef!!! I've tried pretty much everything and listened to yelpers, but I have to say: Stick with the roast beef, au jous and horseradish on the side. I'm surprised they use sliced turkey from Costco or whatever and don't make their own. I've tried a couple of turkey sammy's and I just can't get over the processed meat. Once you have the roast beef you'll never go back. Trust me I've tried everything...Just stick w the roast beef if you are a red-blooded american man who loves the ocean and women (not in that order).
(4)Brian P.
All there sauces are made in house. They pickle their own pickles. Total local crave. Great food.
(5)Maddy L.
Been going here since they opened and not once have I had bad food, bad service, or anything done wrong. The atmosphere is the perfect beach town vibe along with the mellow employees, and the food is wonderful. In high school we used to sneak off just to come eat their beef dips and chicken clubs. Highly recommended if looking for a good sandwich
(5)Tara H.
Best sandwiches in town. You can make your own sandwich. Try making Avocado and roast beef with sprouts instead of lettice on a french role. No mayo or mustard because the avocado makes it taste perfect.
(5)Mario T.
My sandwich was great but the dirty chips they served are terrible. Gets some other chips please. I will have to bring my own on the next visit.
(3)Monica D.
Enthusiastically recommended to us by our beer loving buddy Randy, one random weekend brought my bro Alvin D., the FK and me to B&B San Clemente. Hmm... highly touted deli sandwiches, great beers on tap AND bottled, closes relatively early? Haha, sounds just like another place in Orange that we love to frequent... FK ordered the Tuna, bro and I split the Roast Beef Spicy, and we enjoyed our draft beers for a neat price ($6 for most worthy drafts) sitting at the tiny bar area. Our server was most kind, our food came out quickly, fresh, plentiful, and tasty, and our beers were just the slightest bit too cold :) The au jus for the RBS was piping hot and perfect with our sandwich, and the tuna just blew our minds. Creamy, perfectly seasoned, with a generous amount of chunky tuna. Incredible! For a Wahoo's-looking little joint in a nondescript strip mall somewhere between Suburbia U.S.A. and Surf City, B&B is doing it right! Yes, $7 may seem pricey for a simple deli sandwich, but the ingredients are top notch and they do serve you a great deal. Next time: that mystery sweet and sour sauce...
(5)Jon O.
Have been here over 50 times and have never tried anything but the Turkado. I get cheddar instead of Swiss and I have it toasted. Pure sandwich bliss!
(4)Lesley K.
My fiancé & I come here at least once a week. The staff here is great & the sandwiches are equally amazing! Ask for the Secret Menu.
(5)OCbanker N.
It's a friggin SANDWICH people, how can you rate 2 pieces of bread and deli meat 4-5 STARS? It's clean, convenient, and the service is good. That's A-OK in my opinion, not worthy of "as good as it gets". People need to get out more!
(3)Mark H.
Excellent, great food, great service, great value, worth every dollar
(5)Kimberly G.
Such an amazing sandwich spot! Absolutely LOVE their turkado sandwich and the special sauce on the side! This is my favorite once a week cheat meal
(5)Andrew M.
5 stars in my honest opinion they do a great job on the whole pleasing demand and also serving great food, they have a secrete menu that you can order from and the beer is changing all the time it allows you to try a little of everything.
(5)Guy S.
Spicy roast beef sandwich, Stone Delicious IPA, and excellent service at a fair price!
(5)Alyssa F.
Walking distance from my house, always a weekend lunch adventure. My Boyfriend is so obsessed with this place, that I kid you not, he got nothing but gift cards from my family for Christmas. LOVE their special sauce. This is a MUST TRY!
(5)Danny P.
Friendly staff. Good food. Good cold beer. Sandwiches are a 4 out of 5 due to size and selection. Clean location. Did I mention good cold beer?
(4)Dave P.
Great sandwiches. Turcado or Ham-cado (Turcado sub ham) are our favorite with the special sauce. Always get the special sauce. I phone in and pickup quick. Always a long line but speaks to the demand they have for quality over quantity. If and when I do walk up, I order the sandwiches to go as well as a beer and sit at the little bar and watch sports as I wait the time it takes to drink one beer for my sando's to be finished. Located in a very nice plaza with lots of parking. Very clean open feeling and nice sitting area outside for those beautiful San Clemente afternoons. 4 and not 5 stars is because I have had my order not correct a couple times, always check. I think its a byproduct of how busy but NO excuse. Very minor things like, wanted squaw instead of the sourdough it is suppose to come on. Best sandwiches in town, just need to look at the little things or station someone to check accuracy of orders.
(4)Jeffrey B.
This place is soooo good. Their secret sauce (somekind of sunflower seed dressing) on the turkey deluxe is amazing. Easily one of the best heathy quick eat spits in SC
(5)Charlie H.
Nothing fancy or mind blowing but just good, quality sandwiches. I think the quality and consistency they provide is why they are so successful. I think they only have a few locations now, but they have the right idea to keep expanding. I wish they would open one in Laguna, they would do very well. My personal favorite is the Turkado add Bacon... yummm
(5)StolenKitten T.
Decided to try this place due to the pretty high reviews on Yelp... I ordered the Turkado on squaw...it was alright. The place reminded me of Wahoo's but instead of tacos, you get sandwiches! Only cool thing is that they have beer on tap and a mini bar area. The place seems to draw all the mid life crises surfer dudes with sideway baseball caps at the age of 50 -_-; I'll stick to my usual sandwich joint that never fails me and that's just a couple of miles down the street - Humpfry's!
(3)Joe W.
I haven't been here for dinner but Board & Brew is the place to go in San Clemente if you're looking for the trifecta of lunch criteria: quality, speed, and pricing. QUALITY: I've had several of their sandwiches and their garden salad. All well-prepared and all with great, fresh-tasting ingredients... While this place is known for their sandwiches, I usually get the garden salad with tuna. Delicious and healthy(er). and yes, try their special sauce ;) SPEED: To be honest, this place isn't the quickest but I'll wait a few extra minutes if it means it's going to be something over 9000 times better than Subway. PRICING: Totally worth every penny. It's only like 5.95 (or something like that..don't quote me) for the garden salad and its portions puts many other restaurants' salads to shame. Sandwiches are also good in this area- they definitely don't skimp on their ingredients although I'd recommend ordering some extra chips if you're a big boi like me. It's also a huge plus that this restaurant's parking situation is much more manageable compared to the restaurants closer to downtown.
(4)Michelle D.
Awesome food and great value. Love the Veggie Sandwich and Tub of Tuna.... could be the best tuna sandwich I've had. Super friendly staff, always enjoy my experience!!
(5)Michael S.
Turcado. Enough said! This sandwich is amazing!!! The bread is fresh and delicious, the turkey is tasty, and they put ample amounts of avocado on it. Couple it with a beer from the many they have on tap, and maybe a bag of chips (I recommend the buffalo blue!) and you have a great and quick meal from a local establishment.
(5)Jennalee M.
Right by my work! We love this place! Everything is so fresh and the secret Sauce is amazing too!!
(5)Daniela T.
Love the pastrami sandwich, otherwise known as the perfect pastrami. Surfer vibe and nice staff.
(4)Bobby M.
I've had the Turkado and the Tom's Choice, both are fantastic, though I think I prefer the Turkado between the two ( I LOVE avocado! ). Their special sauce is killer, be sure to get a side of it! They should definitely bottle it and sell it!
(5)Arleen R.
Fast and friendly service- and they were busy! Good food at fair prices, we'd recommend this unique place for lunch. We had the California, Turkado, and the Baja Beef. There was a big baseball group there so we had to wait a few minutes for a more comfortable table. We left fed and happy so kuddos- or stars in this case.
(5)Janice H.
Wow. Greatest sandwich place EVER! Came here after getting my primp on and met up with some friends. They ordered for me beforehand so that I didn't have to wait (aww loves you). I got the Baja Beef and man was it good. Every mouthful was delicious. With its tender marinated steak, grilled onions, jalapeños, melty melty jack cheese and a unique sweet tasting dipping sauce all it needed was a toasty French baguette to make it perfect. Oh wait! It had that! Sigh even the bread was delicious and not just an afterthought like many chain sandwich places tend to treat it. The price was decent. I think I paid like $7.50 for mine and it's a nice filling portion. I only managed to eat half of it, though believe me, I really wanted to eat the other half. I didn't want to be a gluttonous pig though so I saved the other half for later. In fact...it's sitting in the fridge right now...calling to me..
(5)Matthew H.
Awesome sandwiches!! My wife and I recently moved to San Clemente and everyone was telling us to go here. So we went one day, which turned in to 3 times that week! My wife always gets the Chicken Club and I get the Baja Chicken. Both are great.
(5)Moe P.
I am writing this in a deep state of food coma. At least three of my neighbor's dogs are barking at each other as I write this and have been for 10 minutes now but I just don't care. Right now all that I can think about is how delicious that Perfect Pastrami sandwich was. That bread was perfect and soaked up all the juices without getting soggy. The pastrami was a nice cut too but what really put this sandwich over the top was the pickle and mustard. I fell in love with each and every bite. This was the best sandwich I've had in a long time. I'm going to take a nap now.
(4)Lindsay M.
Delicious veggie sandwich.
(5)Alexandria N.
I love this place. The sandwiches are huge and stuffed with all kinds of good stuff, and they have beer! Most of their sandwiches have avocado on them, which is awesome. Their tomato soup was pretty good, too. Outdoor seating which is nice. You will definitely get your moneys worth!
(5)Monica L.
Every single time we go to this place it's fabulous. I think that I have tried most of their stuff and it's never bad. The special orange sauce is yummy too. Today we tried the clam chowder soup and it was great as well. The employees are always friendly.
(5)Joaquin Z.
These sandwiches are amazing!!! The sauce that they come with goes perfect with them. I usually get the Baja chicken or the turkado, both are great sandwiches. Place gets super busy during lunch time but with the wait!!!

There is an old episode of The Simpsons, where Homer takes home a big sub sandwich from work. He becomes obsessed with the sandwich, and eventually Marge has to take it away from him because she's worried about him. I'm not at that point yet, but I have a dangerous love for the Baja Beef. You know when you think of a sandwich and you start salivating like Pavlov's dogs? That's me. Here is one of my favorite things to do in life: sit at the bar in Board & Brew with my friends. Dip a corner of the Baja Beef into the little container of orange sauce that comes with it. Take a big bite, feeling the sauce and the juices fill my mouth. The jalepenos numb my mouth and then my lips. I follow my food with a big gulp of my micro-brew tap beer. My eyes half-focus on the ocean pictures. Then I transcend space and time. Repeat until sandwich is done (and they are huge).

REALLY good sandwiches and wraps. It's a nice place for a lunch meeting under the sun. Don't forget your sunglasses.
(5)Lee H.
In an area that is over crowded by strip malls, Board & Brew is a gem in a sea of big chains and big box retailers. The unsuspecting sandwich shop is small and inviting with a bar area that serves beer on tap. The place has a decidedly non bar feel to it despite the bar, if that makes sense. There are lots of sandwiches to choose; cold, hot, chicken, roast beef - they're all represented. The Tub 'O Tuna is a nice take on tuna salad sandwich that's full of good stuff and served on grainy, crusty bread. After having resided in OC for four years, when I come back to visit, I still love finding unexpected surprises in strip malls.

BEST SANDWHICH SHOP! I wish I could invest in this place for Huntington or Laguna/Newport Beach! EVERYTHING IS GOOD here! The only thing that I thought was not amazing was the tuna, but everything is a "WOW" here... fresh bread, FAST service, good selection... just freaking awesome!!!
(5)Kim Y.
Baja beef is amazing!!!!
(5)Tiffany V.
I'm late to the party on this one but, this place is freakin' delicious!!! I had the Turkey with cream cheese and sunflower seeds on squaw bread and I went back the next day and got it again! Totally yummy, fresh and reasonably priced!!
(5)Jessica S.
I tried Board & Brew for the first time about 2 months ago....I'm in love. I've been twice in the past three days and I can't get enough of it. I love the Turkado, the countless options of Kettle Chips, and the beers! My boyfriend has tried pretty much every sandwich on the menu and I tend to stick to the various turkey sandwiches. Needless to say, this place is delicious. It has an awesome vibe with beautiful art inside...which I love. If you haven't been here yet, GO !
(5)Natalie S.
Have never cared for onions until I tried one of their sandwiches I think it was the turkado the crunch and flavor went so well together. Sat at the bar while I waited...surprised at the great beers they had on tap, so I ordered one beer also. The guy behind the bar was nice, my phone was dead and he offered to plug it in and charge it. I dont live in the area I just visit my husband once in while so I hope to return and try different items.

Yumm.. I just moved to san clemente recently so i have been trying alot of the different restaurants and lunch places to goto with my daughter. I somehow drove by this place many times with out actually stopping there and when i finally did, it was the beginning of a very healthy sandwich relationship! They have the best sandwiches around san clemente! The feel of the place is very laid back yet professional. They have beers , great sandwiches, and outdoor seating. Don't get me started on their delicious special sauce which somehow taste great on all of their sandwiches! Ahh my mouth is literally watering thinking about it! Got to try the chicken club!..
(5)Mike K.
Came to this local san clemente spot after doing some surfing on a recommendation from a friend. It's a very busy place with practically a line out the door. Their roast beef is made fresh daily and it definitely does taste fresh. The size of the sandwiches should fill up the average person, I ended up eating 1.5 sandwich to be filled with content. I think it would be difficult to get a sandwich that isn't good here as everyone was ordering something different and most things coming out looked fresh and good. They have a house sauce that is slightly sweet that goes well with just about anything they serve, I would eat this place again if i'm in the neighborhood.
(4)Paul M.
Love this place! We are local and so we visit Board & Brew regularly for both lunch and dinner. Service and food are always excellent - good job!
(5)Cindy G.
Great sandwiches and great beers. The place gets pretty busy sometimes but they still manage to get your order out pretty quick. The sandwiches are all pretty big in size, so you get a good deal for what you pay. Great place to stop and get a meal to take to the beach!
(5)Ponch P.
FIVE STARS for using fresh ingredients, good portions, awesome taste & great customer service!!! I'll have to make one more stop before returning to Arizona.
(5)Matt W.
Killer sandwiches, food is prepped fast, great beer selection, and reasonably priced. This place doesn't disappoint.
(5)Bill M.
Great staff, great sammiches, excellent revolving selection of beers. Go deep, ask for the spicy italian pastrami. They'll think you know stuff. My only wish is that they had a regular old Italian hoagie, with all the salumi. Otherwise a great spot, I eat here at least once a week.
(4)Beth M.
I like the Turkado, my bf likes the Roast Beef Spicy. Sandwiches are huge and flavor is good. Got the pastrami once and the flavor was really good, but the meat was a little more fatty than I like.
(4)Edwin S.
Great beer, awesome sandwiches. Ask for the secret menu
(5)Jesse G.
Board & Brew is San clemente's best sandwich shop. We all know that but the real magic is in their beer selection. While they may not have the hugest selection, B&B had a constant rotation of the best beers you'd ever want to drink. Combine this with fast, friendly service and you've got the perfect lunch location!
(5)Audra R.
If you ever wonder why stereotypes exist and certain place and people can identified a certain way, then come to board and brew. It is so quintessentially San Clemente it made me a lil nauseous. It has the surf laid back bro but family oriented vibe. Their kids menu is call the grommet menu, etc. It is tucked away in BFE Talega. The "brew" part is a small surf "board" bar with a few good things on tap. The menu is extensive and the lines very long. This place is popular. The baja chicken was good, not great. It lacked heat and some flavor. The turkey club wrap was extremely tasty. I really enjoyed it. Their signature thing seemed to be their sauces on the side: some sort of homemade sweet and sour that I could have drank a glass of, and some sort of horseradish sauce. Everyone had sauces on the side. I guess its how you flavor the food. Cute spot good concept. 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and a bag of chips $20. I wouldn't pay more for a sandwich meal. All in all if I lived in the area I would go regularly.
(4)Jen F.
Fast, fresh and delish! Spent the weekend at my family's place in San Clemente and found this place on yelp. It definitely lived up to its rave reviews! I ordered the Turkado - turkey and avocado on sourdough and was not disappointed. Glad I found this place. P.S. Make sure to try a side of the secret sauce if you go!
(5)G C.
Favorite sandwich shop in San Clemente. Pretty unconventional, but very delicious. Good bread, fresh ingredients and definitely get a side of the sauce. Recommendations: Hot pastrami turkado double decker BEER!
(5)Debbie M.
Love it! Great to have a new place in the neighborhood! The sandwiches are unbelieveable! My only request is more salad options please!
(4)The Foodie S.
Best sandwich shop in the biz. Great atmosphere, great service, and they have a great patio to sit on. Any sandwich on the menu is good, but our favorite is the Baja Chicken and the French dip, go eat here right now!
(5)L G.
A great local place for hot or cold sandwiches. Combos (full sandwich, fountain drink, and choice of chips for under $11 bones. Tables with umbrellas are available outside. Indoor seats are also available with 2 LCDs to watch a game and sip some brew. You'll start seeing lines at lunch. It's located next to Baja Fresh.
(4)Ang F.
I went here a lot when I worked in San Clemente. Everyone is friendly and the food has always been tasty. I've always felt good, laid back vibes here. They are often pretty busy but they're still timely. I went back today after a few months with a friend that isn't the easiest to please when it comes to food. He got the Turkado with the sweet and sour sauce for dipping. He actually said it was good instead of the usual "it's ok" at other places. I got the Caesar salad w/ the sweet and sour sauce. So good. Always get that sauce!
(5)Mike L.
Found this place on yelp. I was looking for non-franchise, mompop deli shop. I read good reviews so I checked it out. Good crowd. I asked for the most popular sandwich. Cashier recommends Chicken Club and Turkey sandwich. I had the Chicken sandwich and I love the french bread, deliciously toasted. Chicken breast was nice and moist. Jack cheese inside was melted over the chicken. I tried half without the house sauce because I wanted to taste the chicken. I finished the sandwich with the house sauce. Both good. It was the bread that won me over. Awesome!
(5)Toni S.
This place is unreal! I got the Baja Beef sandwich and it was out of control!! Spicy, so much flavor and a huge portion. My boyfriend got the Turkado and felt the same way!
(5)Paula R.
Best sandwiches in town! I've ordered several my favorite the Double decker & its always good, & salads also great. Always friendly staff & fresh food with excellent taste! Love the house sauce unique flavor
(5)Tracey T.
The sandwiches here are really good. I had the Turkado which is turkey, avocado, lettuce, and tomato on a sourdough bread. It was really good. My sis got the California Delight. I wasn't to fond of the cream cheese in this one, but I really liked the squaw bread. Overall, I really liked it. The sandwiches are huge and kept me full.
(4)Ian H.
Great service, good beer selection, and awesome sandwiches! If you want good food and/or a beer then this is a spot you have to try
(5)Christian K.
This place has really good sandwiches. I like that they made the outdoor seating area, it used to seem kinda crowded without it. It's nice to come in here on a hot summer day, grab a sandwich (their "Turkado" is a personal favorite) and a beer, and chill for a while.
(5)Matt T.
The best of the best!!! They never disappoint. The food is always the BOMB!!! Toms choice, Beef dip, Baja chicken........in that order. To the guy who says they need to learn how to make a pastrami sandwich........is it really that hard for you to tell them you only want yellow mustard, pastrami, and pickles?
(5)Stephen P.
Great sandwiches, service is weak. If you want a top notch sandwich and dont mind a little attitude from the staff, then this is your place. Also they have a really good beer selection - amazing for a sandwich shop.
(3)John T.
I love this place, great staff, fast service, not to mention the food and constantly changing selection of killer craft beer on tap.. Best sandwich? Hard to say, I love the Chicken Club, or a Baja Wrap on any given day. When it gets colder the Beef Dip, or Perfect Pastrami with some of Angel's soup will hit the spot.
(5)Karyn P.
Sandwiches here are the best, A girlfriend and me always split one as they are so huge. The special sauce is to die for. I took my boyfriend here today for the first time and he loved it. We will definitely be regulars.
(5)Jorge A.
Recently discovered this place. Great sandwiches. Ordered the turkey deluxe. Very healthy portions on french bread. Service was fast and friendly. Definately recommend Board & Brew!
(4)Ryan H.
This place is pretty awesome. I think my favorite is the baja chicken, with no onions, and the sweet and sour sauce to dip. I also thoroughly enjoy micro brew which this place has on tap. They have about 6 beers on tap and it always changes. The beer is icie cold and the selection is usually top notch. This is a 4.5 star post only because it is located in a strip mall.
(4)Steve P.
Overall the food is pretty good, better than average. But the teenagers in there running it didn't seem to care. I'll give them another shot, when I get down that way again. Update: One of the owners contacted me about his employees. Its good to know that the owners care enough about their business to reach out to customers that have problems.
(5)Thomas M.
Love this place! Chicken club on squaw or the tuna are my favorites Great beers and about $11 for a beer and a huge sandwich! The sandwiches are big enough to share if your not that hungry. Always quick even with the huge crowds around lunch time.
(5)Shari Y.
Love this place. Coworkers and I frequent "BB" (as we refer to it as), at least once a week. Haven't really had anything that I didn't like here. They're secret sauce is mighty yums. My Favorites: - Chicken Club - Baja Beef (has a kick to it) - Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup - Turkado - BLT BB has good beers on tap as well. Also love the staff, as they are very friendly and accommodating.
(5)Rick R.
We've been coming regularly since we discovered it about a year ago. A lot of the reviews describe it as a "wahoo -ish' looking place but with sandwiches. Pretty much it. They usually have a soup of the day and have never been let down. Sandwiches are always good. Baja beef dip has some nice bite to it. What does it for us here though is the draft beers. They are always rotating them out so the variety you can try over time is amazing. These guys are doing it right in this area as they seem to get beers that places that call themselves 'taverns, and pubs' don't get.
(5)Isabel F.
On the way to Temecula HC & I were looking for a good lunch stop on the road. Board & Brew was just that & a bit more. It's further inland than I would have liked but the drive was worth the wait after one bite of my sammie. The place doesn't really look like much but it's part of the magic. I ended up having the Turkey BLT meal (with chips and a bevie) minus the mayo. As I was ordering the employee who took my order asked me if I wanted the "sauce" on the side or in my meal, which I thought was weird, since the description of my sammie never mentioned "sauce". Nevertheless I said on the side & waited for my sammie. In no time flat, my sammie was ready and waiting. At first bite, I had a taste explosion in my mouth. Then I noticed all the locals were adding the sauce to their sammie. I was a bit hesitant but decided to give it the college try anyways. And hot damn there's something magical about the combination of local Ranch, Italian, sweet sour & Caesar dressing when its spread over fresh cuts of meat, its just fantastic. Even writing about it makes my mouth salivate. If your in San Clemente or around, Board & Brew is a must stop. If not for the fantastic sammies and mouth-watering dressing then for the local beers.
(4)J R.
If you go to this place and don't enjoy it, then you must be a crazy nut case and I wouldn't want to eat anywhere with you. The sandwiches are so amazing, but the real winner is that special sauce they have. I don't know what that beautiful, delicious, and perfect special sauce is, but I will tell you that is the main reason why this place is so amazing. Board n brew definitely needs to mass produce that sauce and sell it in bottles to the public. I want a board n brew sandwich right now as a matter of fact.
(5)Pete H.
Love this place! Great sandwiches, great brews and sports on TV. My favorite is the Baja wrap but everything is great. Don't forget the sauce! Service is great too. Get there early cause the place is packed on the weekends. Wife and I come almost every weekend. Enjoy!
(5)Jen S.
Not much to say that hasn't already been said. Bread is bakery fresh, meats and cheeses are high quality, and the secret sauce is to die for!
(5)Nicole B.
YUM! Their Chicken Caesar Salad was amazing. The staff was friendly and even though we did wait longer than expected for our food, it was definitely worth it. Great prices and a cool atmosphere. Love the idea of this place - casual hang out with good friends, good food, and maybe some good beer too.
(5)Matt M.
Someone needs to tell these jokers how to make a flipping pastrami sandwich: bread, pickles, mustard and pastrami ONLY! It's not that hard people. *UPDATED* So I ate there again and it was alright. They make a decent enough sandwich, but nothing that I would go out of my way for.
(3)Bri A.
love love love the sandwiches here! they are HUGE! the bread is fresh. the meat and toppings are amazing. and the price is decent! You cant go wrong with any selection! if you like SPICY...try the Roast Beef Spicy if you like Turkey...Turkey sub
(5)Ryan O.
Delicious. A great little Sandwich surf shack! Try their California delight I love it!
(5)Nomi M.
I just keep coming back... Maybe it's the lack of eating establishments in San Clemente. Maybe because it's just good. Who cares? I usually get the vegetarian sandwich (with some special sauce) and they have wonderful potato salad if you're feeling fancy. Top that off with a much needed cerveza and you're good to go. I also like their cobb salad & baja wrap. Big and awesome. Just like me. Their beer selection is pretty damn good too, they change em up pretty regularly. Keep up the good work B&B ****Update**** My ONLY complaint about B&B is the fact that they seem to run out of food on a regular basis. Strike 1. And also, they run people out of there when they feel like closing. If you say you close at 9 then close at 9, not 8:30, not even 8:45. I get that you want to go home but then don't work the night shift. It's part of the territory. Are you in the business to make money or to lose money? I've been turned away twice so far & I've seen them turn people away while I was there. What owner backs that? Many of us who've worked in retail or a restaurant before KNOW that it sucks when people come in later but it's part of the job. The staff all make it VERY evident they want you out by cleaning all the tables around you, spraying cleaner, putting the chairs on all the tables but the one you're sitting at & having all their friends come in to shoot the shit. Super unprofessional and rude. But other than that the food is great!
(5)Chris T.
Board and Brew is as good as it gets. Great sandwiches, great beer, nice people.
(5)Erin A.
Saved by yelp again! We were driving up the coast and needrd a quick lunch, but my husband refuses fast food and chains. Lunch here was great!
(4)Mark L.
great sandy's and great customer service!
(4)TJ C.
Again, thanks to yelp: Had a humongous & delicious turkey club for lunch (& 2nd lunch). Thing was seriously monstrous! Good food, cool vibe, sic art, & beers on draft. Do yourself a favor & skip the drive-throughs.
(4)Tuan T.
A little expensive for what you get otherwise I would have given it a five star, but tasted pretty good. Mainly subs and sandwiches here, roast beef dips and sauce. Make sure to get the special house sauce.
(4)Eric N.
Normally this place is MUY AWESOME....However yesterday, I had a Baja Chicken and the Jalapeños were grey and mushy and tasted bad. I pulled everything off the sandwich and called to let the manager know. He agreed they were bad. So if they are bad, don't serve them. The 3 star rating reflects that normally its good but clearly they will serve you bad food if that's all they have to put on your sandwich.
(3)Lyle M.
One of the best, if not the best, sandwich shops in San Clemente! The Baja beef is the best I've ever tried and I would highly recommend this place! Even if your not from San Clemente, it's only minutes off the 5 freeway and well worth the drive!
(5)Meredith W.
Board and Brew had a table set up at last weeks "cartchella" in costa mesa.... They were serving beer and sandwiches (you don't say) They were actually giving out free sandwiches for this event... and after eating 1.5 I know I'd gladly pay for one in real life. The sandwich was really good (according to this sandwich snob). I'm not sure about the beer, it was good, and I think they make it... but I was a little tipsy by the time I made my way top their booth. anyway, back to the sandwich. It had quality ingredients.... I had the roast beef, and they served it with this red dipping sauce that totally brought the sandwich to a ho' notha' level. It was really good. My friend had the itallian which came with its own respective dipping sauce, and she loved it too! Sandwiches+Beer=A match made in heaven! I'd def stop by if ever in SanClem.
(4)Sandra S.
Have a new restaurant in town, Board & Brew. Check out their website boardandbrew.com . Tried their Chicken Club! Wow, it's an awesome sandwich. Going to have to make this a favorite spot. Nice crowd, great staff. They also have a location in Del Mar & Carlsbad. Have to spread the word. Great outside seating for soaking up the sun!
(5)Robert C.
Great sandwich shop in San Clemente. Probably the best here. Awesome selection of beers for a sandwich shop. Chimay? Thank you, I think I will! They have great salads too I am told (by my wife and daughter). Overall this is a family favorite.
(4)Lisa N.
Grade: A Since trying out Board & Brew, my husband has been back about once a week for their sandwiches. He loves the Baja Beef! Full of flavors, beef was juicy - not dry, jalapenos added the perfect spice. Definitely love their secret sauce! Each time he comes, it is usually a $40 bill as he orders about 4 sandwiches. He typically saves half sandwiches for both of us to take to work. They still taste great the day after. I typically only like sandwiches for lunch, but hubby said he can eat this for dinner too, lol. He actually went back twice in one week because he was craving their sandwiches. He also had them make a grilled cheese and mentioned that the first time he ordered, it was not grilled enough. It came out perfectly this time. Good stuff! So far, we've only tried the Baja Beef & Baja Chicken, so we'll have to try out some of the other sandwiches one of these days. Great to have them just around the corner!
(5)Kimberly D.
Honestly, this place is a little overhyped. I was looking for a quick bite and finally decided on this place due to the overwhelmingly positive Yelp reviews. Sadly, it didn't live up to my expectations at all. I forgot the name of the wrap that I got, but it was bland and the "famous" sauce was good, but definitely not amazing. Probably won't be coming back.
(3)Kelly C.
I came here so many times this summer. I had an internship nearby and made sure to come here about once a week (if not more). Everything I tried here was super good. I've had the Turkado, San Clemente Delight, Turkey Deluxe (my favorite), and the Beef Dip. Every single one of these sandwiches was delicious and more than filling. All of the people that work here are super nice and laid-back too. The service is great and you get your sandwich pretty quickly. It's always packed around lunchtime, yet I never had to wait that long in line or to get my food. My only problem with this place is that there isn't one close to me in San Diego!!!
(5)Jenai A.
Great place to chill and have a sandwich and beer. A little small for the amount of crowd they attract. Would definitely come back but am giving it a four. Like I said it's a little small.every. There was absolutely no room last time I went and I had to go outside only to be told I couldn't take my beer (so where do I sit?).
(4)Jim L.
I've been here twice and have yet to be disappointed. First time I had a Philly Cheese Steak and the second time, a Pastrami. Both sandwiches offered excellent quality, taste and portion. What is a pastrami sandwich without pickles? Well, it's a sandwich. Anyway, the last time I was there they were making a few varieties of dill's and the owner brought out a couple different types for me to try. If they ever decide to quit making sandwiches and stick to dill's....they just might have two successes. As another poster indicated, the owners are very cool, relaxed and friendly. Makes a person want to keep giving them business doesn't it?? Of course I have to save the best for last. The have a little bar with probably 6-7 seats around it and they offer several beers on tap, something to everyones liking. Toss this in with a couple of TV screens...you've got gold. The inside is a little small and not a great place for larger groups but the service is good and the food is wonderful.
(4)Amanda E.
Delicious and filling. Great prices too. Four of us went for dinner and sat outside. One of the workers even came out to make sure the table was clean when we sat down. My son and I each ate half our sandwiches and took the other halves home. They definitely don't skimp on deli meat either. We ordered: Turkado (with bacon and sprouts added) Baja Beef and Baja Wrap (spicy) Roast Beef We'll be back.
(4)Tom R.
Food always great!!! IPA beer always flowing.
(5)Danielle H.
I absolutely loveee Board & Brew!! Everything I have tried I love, and the food is always fresh. The employees are always extremley friendly, and I mean ALWAYS, I go there all the time and every single time I am greated with a big smile and warm personality. My favorite is the Chicken Club, and Spicy Beef dip
(5)Kasey P.
I dont know how they do it, but they make simple sandwiches SO good! its an awesome location and great for all ages and occasions!! you must go and try it if you havent already
(5)Tessa B.
Baja Beef! You MUST try this sandwich. It is so delicious. Their secret sauce is pretty good, too. You don't need it with the sandwich though. There's so much flavor! The staff is very nice. It's a cute place. I love the tables & decor. I've been there a few times & I will definitely go back again.
(5)Megan S.
I'm seeing Board & Brew, but my taste buds are saying "Yum, thanks for the Bay Cities!" No no, taste buds, it's not Bay Cities. However, perhaps it should be known as the Bay Cities of Orange County, the sandwiches are that fantastic. The bf took me here on Sunday, and I am hardcore in love with this place. Tucked into the giant strip mall off of Avenida Pico, Board & Brew serves up some huge fresh sandwiches at wallet-friendly prices. It is the embodiment of San Clemente in a sandwich shop, with no pretensions, not a huge variety, but everything on that menu is worth ordering. They also carry local beers and have a small bar with a giant flat screen for game-watching. I got the Tom's Choice (fresh turkey AND fresh roast beef) with swiss cheese on a giant French Bread loaf plus lettuce, mayo, mustard and their signature sauce. The signature sauce is so good, I would eat at as a soup if it came with a spoon. Also tried the bf's Roast Beef Spicy - out of control good, comes with jalapeños and great dipping sauce. I couldn't even finish my Tom's Choice, I had to take it to go, it was bigger than a Bay Cities large...but you can bet the only thing I ate for the rest of the day was that sandwich. Each one is priced at about 7 dollars, tastes great, and there's only a good attitude from the staff. Thank you, thank you Board & Brew for being the new heavyweight for sandwiches in The Clem. No reason to ever go to Subway again.
(5)Sandra K.
I have been to Board and Brew 3 times. The first time I got the Turkado with no onions. After reading the reviews I also got a side of the "secret sauce". When I got back to the office I poured the secret sauce on the sandwich and kept thinking they put onions on it so, I didn't even finish one half. The second time I went I got a customized sandwich, again with the sauce and one bite was great and the other not so much. Then it hit me that it was the sauce I didn't like not the sandwiches. I decided to try again last week and ordered the Roast Beef Spicy(with no onions). OMG! It was sooooo good. I was there at around 2pm on a Friday and the place was packed but, I got my sandwich within a few minutes and everyone was very friendly. I will definitely be back!!
(4)Keith W.
Really good sandwiches. Big and filling. Fresh ingredients. It's hard to eat a subway sandwich after trying board & brew.
(5)John M.
The sandwiches are awesome and healthy and the Coors Light is ice cold (purple mountains)! And the TVs usually have great surf/skate to watch. I love the California Delight sandwich with the sunflower seeds in it... Mmmmm good!
(5)Chelsea V.
This place is AMAZING! The baja chicken is BOMB and the turkado is solid too. You also can't go wrong with a place that has sculpin on tap. 5 stars, for sure.
(5)Mami S.
I would have given this 5 stars, but I haven't tried enough on the menu to rate it's consistency. If you want a $5 cookie-cutter footlong then go to Subway, but if you want a true artisan sandwich go here. I went back twice in one week after I had my first sandwich from there. It'll leave you licking your fingers and hungry for more. Great portion size, reasonably priced. Would continue to hit this place up.
(4)Fernando L.
This place is simply awesome for a quick stopover lunch. Great food, service, and craft beer options. I highly recommend it.
(5)L T.
I was passing the area on the freeway and stopped here on a whim based on the good reviews-- and was glad that I did. I had the Turkey Deluxe-- all the ingredients were noticeably above average in quality, and the sauce added a nice tang/kick. If I lived closer to San Clemente this would definitely be a regular place to go.
(4)Ryan D.
Went here after a run, and I must say, it is pretty good, much better than the togos/baskin-robins that was here before. This place would get a five, but I am unsure if they toast the bread, which is the only real way to eat a sandwich if it is made with sourdough. Regardless, one should check this place out.
(4)Lexi S.
Hands down, the BEST sandwich shop I've ever been to. This isn't subway! They actually have quality sandwiches. Get the Baja Chicken sandwich...with jalapeños. It's amazing! The service has always been great, and the guys that run it have a lot invested in it. They're extremely chill dudes. The have their bread freshly delivered from San Diego every day. I mean, it's freakin' amazing stuff. Adequately priced, roomy, surfer vibes, delicious. What more could you ask for?
(5)Parker S.
I just hod to post an update for the Board and Brew...since my first review 5 months ago, they have become a weekly stop for me (I work across the street). The sandwiches always have fresh bread and are stacked with the ingredients of choice. They have two flat panel TVs inside showing surf videos, a nice selection of micro-brews, and good service. As long as you are cool with spending $10 on a sandwich/chips/soda, you'll be fine. Subway is cheaper, but hey the food is much better here so deal with it! I love the Turkado and Tom's Choice, but haven't had anything I didn't like! Tip: if you are in a hurry or have a group, call ahead and they'll have it waiting for you.
(4)marshall s.
Excellent array of ales on tap which are priced at $5 to $6 for 9 oz or larger depending on the ale. Menu consists of sandwiches of several turkey combos., beef, tuna and pastrami. $6 to $7 +/-. Tasty and generous but not memorable. Service is friendly and competent. Child friendly. 2 tvs which don't overwhelm. Can get crowded.
(3)Brian M.
Baja chicken wrap takes no prisoners.
(5)Marc L.
I'm a big fan. I can personally vouch for the pastrami, and my favorite, the "Roast Beef Spicy!" Great beers on tap (revolving, craft brews). Their bread is one big key to why the sandwiches are so good, but the ingredients are great too. First time I ate there, I woke up the next morning daydreaming about how good that sandwich was last night ....! Neighborhood gem (I just don't want it to get too busy) (Afterthought - someone there makes a heck of a good clam chowder, too)

I got the chicken club and they let me substitute avocado for bacon which was nice of them. I also tried the beef dip which was good but not as good as the chicken and this turkey wrap which was good too. They have a bunch of sandwiches to choose from and they have beer on tap...

----Taste: 4 stars ---- -fresh -really good "sweet and sour" dressing -Macaroni salad was pretty good but the portion was slightly on the small side ----Quality : 4 stars ---- -Fresh meats -nice quality of bread -They don't skimp on the meat -the portions

Fresh & Delicious ! Say 'Yes' to the amazing sauce that comes with the sandwhich !
(5)Mahtab D.
there sandwiches are AMAZING!!! My personal favorite is the baja beef, so delicious! My fiancee loves there beef dip, which is just as good as the baja beef. I live about 30 miles away, and its so worth the trip every single time. They always go beyond my expectations, nothing frozen freshly made, and there bread is to die for! I seriously try to go down there at least once a weak if not more! Go try this place NOW!!!!

I decided to try this place out after searching for a really yummy but not too pricey sandwich shop on Yelp. Sooo glad I went! I couldn't decide between the Turkado and Cali Delight so they mixed em together for me... Turkado on squaw bread, add sunflower seeds and sprouts = yumm! Thanks fellow yelpers for guiding me to my new sandwich shop!

1st time there today. The chicken caesar was very good, loved the dressing, fresh lettuce, grated Parmesan cheese and the grilled chicken was great! the sandwiches were big, fresh and very tasty. The beer on tap was also very good. Great little place, not greasy, it's a welcome healthy change, the best sandwich shop in the area for sure!
(5)Katie A.
LOVE this place. Great sandwiches and beer on tap. What more could you ask for?
(5)Kevin M.
Great sandwich. Loads of people but pretty fast on Saturday. Totally missed the beer, but that's a good reason to go back.
(4)Raymond H.
great sandwiches and fun, super helpful and knowledgable staff. Get's very busy at lunchtime so if your in a hurry come after 1pm. sides are great too. fresh bread. great vibe.
(4)Matt S.
BAJA CHICKEN ALL THE WAY! Food is super good. Portions are massive and actually not that expensive. Average lunch is about $10 for a massive sandy, chips and a drink. Quality of food is good. Service was good. Good local vibe and massive surf-industry following. Love it. Keep up the good work guys.
(5)Hunter O.
Never gotten a beer here, but I must say the sandwiches are damn tasty! The chicken or turkey breast sandwich will blow your mind.
(4)Mark G.
Awesome. Baja chicken the best.
(5)Nicanor B.
great food great price great taste, makes a deli sandwich look generic.
(5)Shawn B.
Great sandwiches that are always fresh and tasty! The food is consistently good and well prepared. Love the potato salad too! The staff is always really friendly.

After reading about this place on Yelp my wife and I decided to check it out. We were both very impressed. I got the vegetarian sandwich and she got the chicken club. Both were huge delicious sandwiches. My wife couldn't stop saying how good it was every time she took a bite. The owner seemed very nice and helpful. We didn't get any beer but they have a cute little bar inside. It looked like it had about 10 different drafts with every style for IPA to white ale. We will definitely be back. Also, their sweat sauce was really good with our sandwiches.

Really, out of bread? If you can't actually sell a sandwich, EPIC FAIL! How could I give a 1/2 star?
(1)Melissavina D.
B&B special on a toasted baguette, extra sauce on the side... lunchtime perfection.
(5)Shane W.
I love this place. The revolving menu of beers is good and they are knowledge about local breweries. The sandwiches are great, though I wish there were lighter options. That said I still chow here once a week happily.
(4)Jenna M.
This place is great! Food is delicious. I love the Turkado. They dont skimp on the avocado like most places! The sourdough bread is super yummy. And the secret sweet and sour sauce is amazing really gives extra flavor to the sandwhiches! The service has always been good. The atmosphere is nice as well.
(5)Jeffrey F.
California delight. My favorite!
(5)Dan I.
Chicken caesar salad is very good and very kid friendly meals too. They are a generous bunch, being that they hosted my son's school for the day and donated a percentage of the proceeds back to the school. Go there!
(4)Judie A.
Every time that I go to Board and Brew the service is friendly and the food is fresh. I recommend the Baja Beef with Potato Cheddar soup. YUM!
(4)Elena H.
YUMMY! We pretty much always get the Roast Beef Spicy. You cannot go wrong with savory, tender roast beef, onions, mustard on a crunchy piece of french bread. Add some au jous for dipping and really there isn't a better sandwich. Yes the prices aren't Subway $5 dollar cheap, but you aren't getting lunch meat that's been sliced goodness knows how long ago, slapped on by a disgruntled employee. When we want a really good sandwich, we come here.
(5)Ramses S.
Best Sandwiches In South Orange county! Fresh bread made everyday! Quality ingredients and mellow atmosphere. Call ahead to have your food ready when you get there. If your really Hungry order the double Decker! For a explosions of spice and flavor order the Baja Chicken.
(5)Marnie H.
Baja chicken wrap is the best! Love the changing local craft brews, too. This place is packed on the weekends for lunch, so get there early!
(4)Keith R.
Relaxed atmosphere, TVs with alternative sports like surf, skate, and soccer, great sandwiches, good brew, and a cool staff. Oh- and the special sauce- definitely ::two thumbs up:: -I dare you to finish a Double Decker Club-
(5)Noelle S.
BEST. TUNA. SANDWICH. EVERRRRRRRRRR! Seriously....this place is unbelievable. I'm kinda mad it took me 10 months to try this place after moving to the area. Now I at there at LEAST 3 times a week. The tub o tuna sandwich is MONEY. I get it without any veggies and it's to DIE for :) The staff is very chill and friendly too, which is awesome. The squaw bread is always extremely fresh....that's probably what makes the sandwich!
(5)Tyler B.
One if the best sandwiches I've ever had. The beef and pastrami are great.
(5)Leisa S.
Great sandwiches, and their turkey is some of the best I've had.
(4)Stacey T.
Friggin yummy! Had the turkey club with an ice cold I cant remember what it was brewery beer on tap - I recommend stopping in here and eating and having a beer before you go into the abysmal hell next door known as Walmart - makes shopping so much more fun. Seriously though I really enjoyed my sandwich, very good - gives Billy's a run for their money for sure.
(5)Susie A.
great food, friendly staff. Definitely will return.
(4)Mimi N.
Yum!! I first tried the Baja Chicken and wasn't that impressed but the Baja Beef is so good! The sandwich itself is huge and can feed up to 2. Haven't tried much else since I only come here when I crave the Baja Beef with their delish secret sauce. MmMmm.
(5)Michele U.
My fav local sandwich joint. My go to sandwich is the California Delight with no mayo. Turkey, sprouts, tomato, cream cheese, sunflower seeds on squaw...Yummmmm!!! and don't forget the secret sauce!!!
(5)Michael T.
Rockin' PASTRAMI! !!!! Eat eat eat....!
(5)Bob P.
I work nearby, and we are always looking for a good place to eat. I think this storefront used to be a Togos/31 Flavors. This place is awesome! I had a California Delight, and it was very tasty. My coworkers were jealous as they unwrapped their greasy burgers from a close by National Fast Food Chain. Only downside was the wait. (approx. 20 min) In their defense, it looked like they were finishing up a very large catering order.
(4)Nicole B.
Simple & fresh sandwiches, freedom to create your own, laid back atmosphere and quality beer! Yes, this sandwich shop serves beer! Bottled and draft, Chimay being one of them! The Turkado is my favorite sandwich. For $5.50 its a pretty good sized sandwich. For a sandwich, drink, and chips it comes out to about $9. This place is great since in SC there isn't a lot of variety close to home. They also serve salads, wraps, and hot sandwiches, which I have yet to try. Lunch time is pretty busy, but the service is fairly quick and they take phone orders as well.
(5)H H.
Love this place. Best soup and chili ever. Great service even though they are always busy. Thanks for feeding me well.
(5)Rach T.
Yum! Stopped here with the bf and had one of the best sandwiches I've had in a loong time. I was super hung over and it did the trick without being all greasy and bad for you. I got the turkado at the recommendation of an employee. The bread was super soft and it was HUGE!! Tons of turkey, cheese, avo spread reminiscent of Jimmy John's but not as garlicky. Had a side of the special sauce and couldn't get enough of it! Seriously, the sandwiches are huge and reasonably priced. The quality of food for the price is a great value. BF had the baja beef on a baguette and it looked really good. I didn't try it because I wanted to go easy on my stomach, but it had lots of oozy melted cheese. He is a small guy and a light eater, but he finished the entire thing. Great selection of specialty beers at a decent price too. Overall, Orange County needs to support local businesses more instead of the cheesecakes and pf changs of the world. So if that is a priority for you then DEFINITELY check out this place. Yum!

Wow, Its so nice to get a great, fresh sandwich that is BIG for only 6 bucks. This was my first time, I got the turkey club which was FAB, Very generous with the bacon and they use shredded lettace which is my fav..cant wait to tell my Sandwich loving brother. I will be back.. It was great....

This place just opened on Monday and they are great! I met the owners before it opened and they are super nice. They have taken a big leap of faith opening up a sandwich shop where a chain (Togo's) failed. I did not know what to expect when I first went there but wanted to give the place a shot since they owners are cool guys trying to open up a restaurant in hard economic times. I went there on opening day and got the Baja Chicken (second time got the Baja Beef just as good if not better) and it well....it kicked ASS! Cant think of a better place in SC for sandwiches. I read the reviews from the Register article about it opening and people that have been to the ones in SD said it was great and they are right. I have been there a few times opening week and it has always been good. I took people from my work and they are totally into it. Not only was it really good but portion size which is key for me I ate the whole sandwich which is normally not a big deal and it put me in a 3/4 food coma during work. Pricing is good to you can get a monster sandwich which for $5 - $7. Definitely worth giving it a shot I am sure that I will be there a few times a week. They also have some beers that look good and are local beers so I am looking forward to giving them a shot.

Great Food!!!

I dig the turkado, this place can be pricey but they do give you a hefty sammy. The special sauce is one of a kind.
(4)Robert W.
Tried this place a few weeks ago and was amazed. Freshness of ingredients is at the top of my list and these guys to a great job. This place has been found out and a long line can ensue at noon time. they will accept phone orders and this is the way to go if all you have is an hour for lunch. Size of sandwiches is not huge but it would be easy to split with a friend if you are a light eater. I have made through about half of the menu at this point and have yet to have a bad sandwich. They had a special pastrami sandwich last week that was amazing, it sold out in a few hours/ So make sure to check the special board outside the restaurant.
(5)B A.
Great sandwiches and they give generous portions. 5*s
(5)Evie B.
Love this place and their staff. I think they remember me, and they just are so sweet about everything. They're pretty quick even in their busy times (lunch is uber busy), and thier grub is good quality stuff.

UNREAL!!! I was in the area and was hungry so I yelped and figured I had to try this place since the reviews were so good. I read a bunch of reviews raving about the Baja Beef sandwich, so I went for it. I ordered it in a wheat wrap. Let me tell you....hands down the best steak sandwich EVER. I was so bummed when I finished the sandwich cuz I didn't want it to end. Let me also say that the wheat wrap itself was insanely good...super fresh and chewy, not dry like your typical store bought wrap. I would even consider ordering a side of wheat wrap and just dip it something. Anyhow, you gotta try this place.

Stopped in early one night after hitting up Walmart for some Christmas Tree decorations. It was storming like crazy & the Poolman & I were not quite ready to deal with Pico & the 5. "Let's check out Board & Brew", I suggested, thinking we would just have a look, maybe a beer & grab a take out menu. We were pleased to see a hip little shop, funky decor & killer photos of local surf spots. We sat up at the bar, next to a small group of men, chatting and enjoying their beers. We each chose a different beer & upon first sip, I exclaimed "this has got to be thee coldest beer in San Clemente!" It was so delicious & chilled to perfection! Steve, our 'beertender' then suggested the Baja Beef sandwich & the Poolman looked at me, shrugged his shoulders & said 'ok, why not, let's do it'. It arrived within minutes~ super hot & juicy! The kitchen split if for us & the portion was impressive. How often can you split a sandwich & feel satisfied when you're finished? The beef was tender & flavorful...the peppers were perfectly sauteed and soft, and the cheese held it all to the uber-fresh bread! oh, gosh....I'm making myself hungry....and its storming like crazy! you def must try! you'll be stoked!
(5)Amanda M.
Love Board and Brew.... Sandwiches are amazing, place is always clean, and the staff is super friendly....
(4)Kristin H.
Board and Brew really knows how to combine ingredients in the greatest way possible. I can't get over the California Delight sandwich which includes sprouts, cream cheese, and sunflower seeds. It's literally made me so loyal that I've failed to try anything else (though I want to!) The secret sauce compliments everything perfectly as well. Definitely the best sandwich shop around with a laid-back So Cal vibe. Cool sandwich crafters as well.
(5)J H.
It was so friggin tasty i have gone two days in a row. The dude at the counter suggested the baja chicken and it was amazing. Today my girlfriend and i went back so she could try the sandwiches. It has a cool atmosphere while also being very laid back. One can always enjoy i huge sandwich and a good beer
